Biography

(in Italiano) (auf Deutsch) (en Español)

Dramatic soprano Lindsay Feldmeth has delighted audiences around the world with her “radiant, gorgeous young voice” and “magnetic charisma.” Born in Hollywood, she moved to Austria at the age of 20 so that she could study with Horiana Branisteanu at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. After earning her master's degree (with highest honors) in opera at the Mozarteum in 2004, she completed her training with Mirella Freni at CUBEC in Italy and with Ruth Falcon in New York City. She has also participated in master classes with Dame Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Sergio Bertocchi and Jeannine Altmeyer.

By winning a prestigious Davis Project for Peace Prize, Lindsay was able to establish the Kathmandu Music for Peace Festival in Nepal. Last summer, after teaching and singing extensively in Kathmandu, she also performed at the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival and the Music by the Brook Festival. She is a recent Opera Buffs Scholar and she was the only American vocalist invited to perform at the XIII International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 2007.

Her powerful voice is particularly suited to the music of Wagner, Verdi and Richard Strauss. She was recently heard as the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier in Hillhouse Opera's scenes program. She also performed the role of Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus with Intimate Opera, and she won rave reviews for her interpretation of Musetta in La Bohème with Opera St Mark's in Florence, Italy. Her credits at the Mozarteum include starring roles in Le Nozze di Figaro, La Finta Giardiniera, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, and Momo und die Zeitdiebe. She sang Frasquita in Carmen with Opera Garden and the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte in the Karl-Böhm-Saal of the Salzburger Festspielhaus. She has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras, including the Pasadena Community Orchestra and the Mozarteum University Symphony Orchestra.

Lindsay enjoys making opera more accessible to contemporary audiences. She speaks four languages and her witty "introductions to opera" have made her a favorite with tour groups in Italy, where she has performed more than 100 solo recitals for the music society Concerto Classico. A devoted fan of German Romantic music, she has also given art song recitals at venues from Vienna to Tokyo. Her sacred repertoire ranges from the baroque to the contemporary, and she has been a featured soloist in concerts and worship services throughout the U.S., the U.K., Austria, Germany, Italy, Japan, Nepal, Russia, Spain and Switzerland. Lindsay Feldmeth divides her time between Los Angeles and Salzburg, Austria.
