Lindsay Feldmeth has been active in international children’s charities for more than ten years. She has raised more than $30,000 for abused and abandoned children by singing annual benefit concerts for the Child SHARE program. While performing with Concerto Classico in Italy, she also raised money for AMALA, a ministry for disadvantaged children in southeast India. She served as the Philanthropy Chair for the musical fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota while she was at Northwestern University, and she had the honor of singing for ethnic Albanian refugees in Austria during the Kosovo Conflict of 1999.
An experienced editor and prize-winning poet, Lindsay has also used her writing skills to help kids in need. Over the past two years, she has written curriculum materials for Royal Friends’ Clubs, a mentoring program for foster children throughout the United States and Australia. In addition to writing grants and articles, she has composed dozens of Bible skits and puppet plays to entertain the kids. She has also authored a series of children’s books published by RFC: the “Follow Your Dreams Adventure Book” (2008), the “Build Your Castle Adventure Book” (2009), and the “Find Your Treasure Adventure Book,” which is due out this fall.
Lindsay is also passionate about music education and she often finds herself teaching in cross-cultural environments. She has volunteered her time as a translator and interpreter at several master classes and music festivals. In addition to her degrees in music, she has completed coursework in European Languages & Literatures at the University of Vienna, the University of Salzburg, the Istituto Italiano di Firenze, and Northwestern University.
She currently serves as Program Director for Hope Partnership Nepal, a young non-profit organization that brings relief and resources to the Kathmandu Valley. After helping HPN achieve its 501c3 status, Lindsay won a Davis Project for Peace grant and used the money to establish a new summer music festival in Nepal. At last summer’s Kathmandu Music for Peace Festival, she taught several workshops at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory and gave scholarships to students who could not otherwise afford to study music. The next peace festival is scheduled for 2011! While in Nepal, Lindsay also got to sing and dance with the children at CWC, an orphanage in Godavari (see picture).
Lindsay is a proud alumna of International House New York, a community of graduate students from around the world who share a vision for social justice on a global scale. She has been a frequent performer and emcee at the concerts and “Salon Nights” offered by I-House residents.
